Releases From Blood On The Saddle And 1960s Legend, Dean Ford, Hit Digital Services Today

NEW YORKMay 31, 2024PRLog — Ton-Up Records is pleased to announce the release of “First Blood” by Blood on the Saddle and a re-issue of “Hey My Love” by 1960s legend Dean Ford of Marmalade fame.

“First Blood,” a collection of early recordings from the original Blood on the Saddle line-up, includes several acoustic duets between founder and guitar virtuoso Greg Davis and co-lead singer Annette Zilinskas. The album features early versions of classics like “Ghost on My Heart,” “I Wish I Was A Single Girl Again,” and “I Thought I Heard Some Thunder.”

Forty years, ten albums, and several line-ups later, Blood on the Saddle has earned its place in music history.  “First Blood” allows fans to experience the development of a sound where “rock is doing something new and a half twist different from what has gone before,” as Andrea ‘Enthal wrote in the December 1985 issue of Spin Magazine.

In 1974, Dean Ford left his history-making run as lead singer/frontman for the 60s Scottish band Marmalade and began working with Alan Parsons on his debut solo album. It was Parsons’ suggestion for Ford to record “Hey My Love,” written and originally recorded by Mark Radice in 1971.

Released in 1975 as the first single off of Ford’s self-titled debut album, Ford stated in an interview with music industry veteran Dan Matovina, in 2015, that the song “just seemed to work for me.”  Ford passed away in 2018.

The single “Hey My Love” by Dean Ford with its original artwork is available today, and fans can look forward to Ford’s self-titled debut album, to be reissued on June 21, 2024, for the first time on DSPs.

Blood On The Saddle Revisits History With “First Blood” Release

NEW YORK – May 14, 2024 – PRLog — In a June 2, 1985 article, Los Angeles Times Music Critic Chris Willman described Blood on the Saddle‘s self-titled, 1984 debut album as “One of the most absorbing vinyl wonders the city has produced in the last few years.”  Later that year, in the December issue of Spin Magazine, Andrea ‘Enthal wrote, “Blood’s album is full of the flying finger-tips and heart-pumping roots-rock that puts cowpunk on the edge where rock is doing something new and a half twist different from what has gone before.”

Formed in 1983 by guitarist and lead vocalist Greg Davis, with bass player Ron Botelho and drummer Hermann Senac, the band was often called “Cow Punk” or “Country Punk.” Singer/guitarist Annette Zilinskas joined the band that summer after leaving the Bangles.  Forty years, ten albums, and several line-ups later, Blood on the Saddle has transcended those labels and earned its place in music history.

On May 31, 2024, Ton-Up Records will release “First Blood,” featuring early versions of classics like “Ghost on My Heart,” “I Wish I Was A Single Girl Again,” and “I Thought I Heard Some Thunder.”  Most notable are the acoustic duets with Blood on the Saddle founder and guitar virtuoso Greg Davis and co-lead vocalist Annette Zilinskas, who was still a member of The Bangs (Bangles) at the time.  “First Blood” provides music fans with a unique experience of hearing the development of a sound that is as innovative today as in 1983 and taken rock music somewhere new and different.
