Tune into Dreamsville on WUSB – 90.1 FM Stony Brook, New York this coming Saturday at at 7pm. Give the station a call at 631-632-WUSB or on AIM: WUSBDJ and ask them to play Manic Part One by JoyBox.
Joybox made their debut performance in front of one of the most exclusive art galas to hit New York in 2013. Despite rainy weather the band played to guests of artists William Quigley (www.quigleyart.com) and Ben Moon.(www.worldofbenmoon.com) Their art show titled “The Pleasurist” included a charity auction that benefited Guild Hall. Quigley who hosted the party picked the band after hearing an advance copy of their forthcoming album “Informal Deviance” due out September 24th in Europe through Monroe Entertainment Records Group. Dressed in black vinyl, Joybox singer/rhythm guitarist Eddie Star dominated the audience. Halfway thru the set the East Hampton Police were called to the gallery about noise complaints. The rain and the police did not stop the party, which was an enormous success.
“We were invited because Mr. Quigley liked our songs and thought our provocative lyrics matched the theme of the show. If you want safe lyrics and a quiet set while dinner guests converse- you’ve come to the wrong place,” said Star.
The debut Joybox album titled Informal Deviance will be released in Europe on September 24th. Future performance dates to be announced.
About Joybox
Joybox is Eddie Star (Lead Vocals/Rhythm Guitar), Bob Mars (Drums/Vocals), and Christian Schenck (Lead Guitar – Vocals). The band formed when music veterans Eddie Star (Eddie Star & The Zero Effect) and Bob Mars (Tom Morello, Church of Mars, Invisible Humans) decided to start a group that was bare and unrefined in the style of early acts like the Ramones and Iggy Pop and the Stooges. The debut Joybox album titled Informal Deviance will be released in Europe on September 24th. European tour dates to be announced.
Monroe Entertainment Records Group
In 2006 Star founded Monroe Entertainment Records Group with his friend, mentor and music industry veteran Gary Monroe. The label’s first release was the critically acclaimed debut (Living in Silence) from MTV’s Battle for Ozzfest runner-up, Guilt by Association. Star plans on signing more acts he believes in to Monroe Entertainment Records Group.
