NEW YORK – Oct. 3, 2025 – PRLog — Ton-Up, Inc. is pleased to announce the release of Eddie Star‘s “Technicolor Dreams,” out today as a single.  The song was initially released in 2022 on the cast album for Philip Paul Kelly‘s Rock-n-Roll Wrestling Spectacle, “Rockquiem For A Wrestler.”  Featuring the music of Star (Eddie Star & The Zero Effect, JoyBox) and composer Paul Castrataro (Picture of Dorian Gray, Fags & Cellphones), the story about a champion wrestler created a lot of excitement among both wrestling and music fans.  The Off-Broadway “Elevated Staged Reading” streamed live on June 27, 2020, from New York City’s Triad Theater, was covered on PWInsider.com, the leading site for wrestling news, and Broadway World.
In addition to the title track, the single includes the tracks Bitter Water, and Mirror, Mirror, recorded live and featuring harmony vocals by Philip Paul Kelly.  Star’s recent releases include Informal Deviance (13 Sexational Songs) with his side project, the band JoyBox, in 2015, and a solo single, Science Fiction/Double Feature, in 2019.

Kelly brings his vocal talent, described as Neil Diamond meets The Phantom of the Opera, to the Roy Orbison classic and the single’s B-side, Come Close, a ballad written
by composer Paul Castrataro (The Picture of Dorian Gray, Fags & Cellphones, Rockquem For A Wrestler). Eddie Star (Eddie Star & The Zero Effect, JoyBox) signed Kelly to his label Ton-Up Records in
2022 and released his first single, Savior.

Kelly made his theater debut at 14 and has gone on to star and co-star in national tours of some of Broadway’s biggest shows, including Titanic and Camelot. He has appeared in regional productions of Elf The Musical, 1776, A Christmas Carol, The Full Monty, Jekyll & Hyde, Peter Pan, Beauty and the Beast, and La Cage Aux Folles. Other notable performances include the workshop and concert of Ragtime on Ellis Island as Admiral Peary with Brian Stokes Mitchell, Georgia Engel, Brandon Victor Dixon,
Michael Park, and Laura Michelle Kelly.

The Off-Broadway Cast Recording of Philip Paul Kelly‘s Rock-n-Roll Wrestling Spectacle, “Rockquiem For A Wrestler,” is available on Compact Disc and Music Streaming/Download Services today.

Featuring the music of Eddie Star (Eddie Star & The Zero Effect, JoyBox) and composer Paul Castrataro (Picture of Dorian Gray, Fags & Cellphones) the show about a champion wrestler created a lot of excitement among both wrestling and music fans. The “Elevated Staged Reading” streamed live on June 27, 2020, from New York City’s Triad Theater.

The single, “Savior” (One of Star’s songs) sung by Philip Paul Kelly, was released earlier this year. It will be accompanied by a music video currently in post-production and scheduled for release early next year. “Rockquiem For A Wrestler” is in development for the screen by Kelly, who is reprising his role as Mr. Greenway in the Ogunquit Playhouse at the Music Hall’s production of “Elf the Musical” in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, this holiday season.

The band features Guitarist Benjamin J Samuelson, Drummer Peter Lazorcik, Bass Player Seth Lisle, and a special appearance by Eddie Star (Eddie Star & The Zero Effect, JoyBox) on Rhythm Guitar. Originally written, recorded, and performed by Star, the song is one of several titles licensed from the musician’s catalog included in the show.

The story of a champion wrestler revisiting his past, transporting the audience simultaneously between the world of professional wrestling and being at a rock concert, featuring the music of Eddie Star and composer Paul Castrataro (Picture of Dorian Gray, Fags & Cellphones) captured the imagination of the viewing audience during the live stream in June of 2020.

A music video for “Savior” will soon be released, and the live cast recording will be available on digital music services later this year. Kelly is currently developing “Rockquiem For A Wrestler” for the screen.

Performed and recorded live by Philip Paul Kelly during the elevated staged reading at New York City’s legendary Off-Broadway venue, The Triad Theater, the song “Savior” will arrive on streaming services on March 25, 2022.

Originally written, recorded, and performed by Eddie Star, the song is one of several titles licensed from Star’s catalog included in the show.  “Eddie Star’s music is Punk Rock.  I thought it would be a good compatible form of music to compliment the grittiness of the wrestling environment,” Kelly commented in a short documentary about the show by NYU film student Shuyao Chen in 2019.

NEW YORK – Oct. 1, 2019 – PRLog — “I’m gonna give you some terrible thrills,” sings Eddie Star in his version of the classic opening tune from the “Rocky Horror Picture Show.”  The single, which marks Star’s return to music as a solo artist, will be released just in time for Halloween on October 25, 2019, through Ton-Up, Inc.

“The lyrics are engaging, and the audience always responds well to it,” said Star. “It’s a great song.”  The musician brings his unique recipe of high energy rock-n-roll, a dash of punk, and for the first time, a distinct pop edge to the classic song.

Star’s last release was 2015’s Informal Deviance (13 Sexational Songs) with his side project “JoyBox.”  Since then the musician has been busy moving into other creative areas, including his directorial debut with the short film clip, “The Center of the Universe.” Star made an appearance in the Off-Broadway Rock Musical “Rockquiem for a Wrestler” by Actor, Writer, and Director Philip Paul Kelly (Elf the Musical, Ragtime on Ellis Island, Titanic the Musical).  The musical features ten songs from Star’s catalog and a second elevated staged reading at The Triad Theater in New York City is scheduled for spring 2020.

Eddie Star Catalog Remastered with Music Video

Monroe Entertainment Records Group is releasing two titles from punk rocker Eddie Star and his band Eddie Star and the Zero Effect.  His solo album titled “Generation Zero”, and a live album titled “Live from Hollywood”.  These titles provide a look back at the origins of Eddie Star’s sound with the upcoming release from his new band Joybox.  The titles were Mastered for iTunes at Masterdisk in New York City.

Eddie Star looks back at that time, “In the mid 90s we were part of a huge wave of bands coming out of California that were bringing punk rock to the mainstream music scene.  When Social Distortion signed with Epic in 1989 and subsequently Bad Religion to Atlantic, the whole scene exploded with acts. Then there was the SexPistols reunion.  Although my part in punk history may be smaller, I am very happy to be still making music and that finally music fans will get a chance to hear these albums.”

To celebrate these releases, a music video for the song 2017 was produced and directed by New York photographer Marisha Camp.  Marisha’s brother, former MTV VJ Jessie Camp makes an appearance in the video.  “It was really cool to have Jesse appear in the video” says Star,  “He is a great guy and it made sense from the point of view that Jesse was on Total Request Live playing music videos when The Zero Effect was together.”

The director of the video 2017, Marisha Camp, was not shy about her opinions of working with Eddie Star “For as long as I have known Eddie, he has never wavered in his absolute belief in rock and roll. In his childhood memories, he waits for months to receive the Joan Jett poster that hangs on a record store wall, and even now, in 2013, in a post post post punk era, he is steadfast and loyal, sticking to his guns and writing the sort of unapologetic, fearless punk songs that would make his heroes proud. In making the 2017 video, I wanted to speak about sticking to your guns, about never letting a rebel spirit die in a world that’s homogenizing at breakneck speed, at never growing up if growing up means leaving the house in normal person drag. After capturing the ferocious honesty of Eddie Star, I started to seek out other people who are just as true to themselves, whatever the cost. I encountered so many powerful, brave, and beautiful souls along the way, and I hope people walk away from the video with a little inspiration to be themselves on 11.”
